Cakes bake best when they have heat surrounding them. The fan forced or fan bake setting on your oven will keep the heat moving through your oven ensuring a more even heat distribution and therefore a more even bake.

If your oven does not have a fan setting, rotate your cake pan halfway through the cooking time.

Positioning

The best place to cook your cake is in the middle shelf of your oven.

Everyone’s oven seems to have their own quirk and hot spot, therefore if you know you will get a more even cooking temperature in a different place in your oven, that is where your cake should go.

Cooking multiple cakes at the same time should not affect the baking process, as long as you are not constantly opening and closing the door, as this will keep dropping your oven temperature.

I do not suggest cooking anything with a strong smell at the same time

Never cook raw items on the rack over your cake, as they may leak down and contaminate your cake
